Malbec is a red wine grape variety that is primarily associated with Argentina. The wine made from Malbec grapes is normally rich in color, with flavors of dark fruit, such as blackberry and plum, as well as subtle notes / flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and tobacco. Typically, Malbec wines are full-bodied, with medium to high tannins and moderate acidity. Although Malbec actually originated in southwestern France, Malbec is now recognized as the most widely planted red grape variety in Argentina and is viewed as the “signature wine” of Argentina. In fact, Argentina exported 105 million bottles of Malbec wine to 124 countries in 2019.
